How do I report my roommate matches to my community?
To request a roommate on RoomBug, just click the 'request as roommate' link under that user's name on the Browse page. The other user will have to confirm the roommate match before the match is recorded by RoomBug. Depending on your community, the match may be official at this point, with RoomBug reporting your roommate match directly to the community. Some communities may ask that you report the roommate match directly on their website. You can go to your main network page, which will have directions for how to complete your roommate match.
Why can't I see Facebook profiles of potential roommates?
Some users may not have a completely public Facebook profile, which means that you will only be able to see certain pieces of information without being their friend on Facebook. You still have access to see their lifestyle preferences and can message them on Facebook. You can choose to send them a friend request to be able to see their profile if you'd like.
What is the access code for my community?
Your community access code was given to you by your community via email. Contact your community to retrieve your access code.
How do I join my community's RoomBug network?
To join your network, go to apps.facebook.com/roombug, then scroll down to the 'My Settings' section. Click the 'Housing Info' tab and select your state, city, community, move-in period and room size, then input your access code given to you by your community.
Why do I not see any potential roommates when I click the 'Browse' button?
If you do not see any roommates or only a few roommates, make sure that the lifestyle filter is turned off so that you can see all potential roommates, not just those that fit within your desired ranges. You also may want to consider returning to your lifestyle preferences setup tab and set wider ranges for your ideal roommate. It is also possible that your network has not officially opened yet. Before RoomBug networks are open, you are still able to join, however you are unable to see potential roommates. Contact your community to confirm open and close dates of your network.
How do the lifestyle preference settings work?
Under the 'Lifestyle Prefs' tab, you can define yourself and your ideal roommate on a 1-5 scale for various living preferences like preferred bedtime and activity level. When you fill out lifestyle preferences for yourself, those answers can be seen by all potential roommates. When you fill out lifestyle preferences for your ideal roommate, during the search process you can filter the people you see in results by those that fit within your desired ranges for a roommate. If you do not see any roommates on the Browse page, you may want to return to your lifestyle preferences and set wider ranges for your ideal roommate.
How does roommate matching work when I have more than one roommate? Who can confirm roommate matches?
After matching with your first roommate on RoomBug, you can continue searching for additional roommates. You can request another roommate without your current roommate having to confirm the additional roommate match. You should speak with your current roommate to make sure that they are okay with the new roommate match since that user will become their roommate too!
When is the last day that I can pick a roommate on RoomBug?
Your community should email you details on beginning and ending dates for your RoomBug network. If you are not sure, contact your community to find out the last day that you can request a roommate on RoomBug.
After being on RoomBug for about a week, I got my first message from the girl who I have now requested to be my roommate for next year. RoomBug allowed us to compare qualities such as social and study habits and has taken away the fear of being thrown into living arrangements with someone who is the exact opposite of who I would want in a roommate.
